The word Navakshari means “Nine Letters” — referring to the sacred Navakshari Mantra, a divine composition of nine syllables. In the language of Tantra, nine symbolizes completion and transformation. Through this mantra, the sadhaka begins the journey of facing and transcending every fear, attachment, and limitation that binds the soul.
At this stage, the main presiding deity is Devi Kali, also revered as Chandi — the fierce, compassionate Mother who slays the inner demons of ignorance and ego. Through Navakshari Sadhana, the seeker learns the art of complete surrender — allowing the Divine Mother to cleanse the heart, cut through illusions, and lead one to inner freedom.

One who sees Navakshari as merely a Chandi mantra is mistaken. The Goddess Herself has declared — ‘He who chants my mantra in times of adversity, or even amidst the forest surrounded by wild beasts, I shall protect as surely as the sun dispels darkness’. This phase is truly the sunrise of one’s spiritual life — when the seeker learns to see beyond fear and illusion and moves toward Devi Sayujyam, the union with the Divine Mother.
